DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The technical assistance implies international expert assistance in promotion of CSA in Armenia and Georgia by raising local capacity and assist multi-stakeholder teams in Georgia and Armenia, chaired by the Ministries of Agriculture, in the development of an Action Plan on the base of Strategy’s Direction 7 (Measure 7.3) of the Agriculture Development Strategy (Georgia) and suggestions/recommendations for development of CSA policies on the base of review of the National Strategy on the Sustainable Rural and Agriculture Development for 2010-2020 (Armenia).

Increasing the understanding of the regional Network members concerning the rules and procedures of the GEF, GEF-CSO Network and Public Involvement Policy to ensure that members’ involvement in GEF projects in the region is increased, as is their involvement in GEF-CSO Network activities.

• Fauna (terrestrial and aquatic), flora and vegetation of the region and general description of the main habitats at the Khrami river and the affected catchment area (CENN)
• Protected areas (CENN)
• Human environment (CENN)
o Demographic characteristics of the region.
o Affected settlements, if any. Definition of the region, which will have to be assessed in the detailed social survey.
