DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The development goal of the project is to ensure sustainable development in the South Caucasus region through sustainable resources management, gender equality, transparency and participatory approaches at the local, national and regional levels.

 

The Project (Phase 2) objective is strengthening of women's groups in rural areas of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan and support to their active involvement in natural resources management to ensure sustainable community and regional development.

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The overall objective of the project is to ensure sustainable development in the South Caucasus region through sustainable resources management, gender equality, transparency and participatory approaches at the local, national and regional levels. The specific goals are the following:
• fostering of transparent and equal participatory decision-making at local level;
• protection and use of women’s knowledge;
• increasing of women’s access to education and information;
• coalition-building and confidence building and regional Networking in the Caucasus region;
• engagement of women in environmental decision-making and community development processes;
• empowerment of rural women as producers and consumers;
• increasing women’s access to and control of natural resources;
• protection of women from environmental hazards at home, work, and other environments

DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
Overall objective of the project is to contribute to the empowerment of the rural population in the trans-boundary region of Armenia and Georgia, especially of women, and their increased awareness for the importance of sustainable agriculture in the South Caucasus.

Project Purpose:

To enhance income generation in the agricultural sector by women actively participating in Rural Women Councils and men and women in local cheese production cooperatives in the transboundary region of Armenia and Georgia as well as applying and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Expected results:
• Outcome 1. Rural Women Groups in trans-boundary communities established and their capacities and skills strengthened.;
• Outcome 2: Cheese production cooperatives in trans-boundary communities established and their capacities and skills strengthened;
• Outcome 3: Cheese from trans-boundary production cooperatives available in local markets and in both countries’ capitals/centres and income of cheese producers increased.
• Outcome 4: Local agricultural and environmental problems are commonly identified and recommendations jointly elaborated under participation of Rural Women Councils, local authorities and the wider community
